06/27 – 07/04 (#FF074)

#FF074: ‘Motion Picture’
monday is back & so do we. as we usually release an article with a sublime variation of tunes that we stumbled over the last few days, we’d like to tell you that you’re goin’ to like this one here.

as our site is usually known for featurin’ more soothe & atmospheric music than dance music, we’d like to make an exception today & dedicate this article to the versatility of club, or better said, bass music. footwork, juke, club, grime, experimental electronica, all these genres can be heard on article number seventy-four.

but before you start to listen to these releases, be sure to drink some water, because you might be movin’ for the rest of the day to the pithy bass lines & we really do not want you to dehydrate.
so shall we start with the presentation? we think, we should:

1. Fil Jackson – Lee Make U Move Around

first release has been be published by our beloved friends, helsinki-based record label ‘Top Billin’. mostly known for experimental electronica, club music & footwork, we recently had the pleasure to check out one of their newest releases: the ‘They Don’t Wanna Play Our Music On The Radio’-extended play by toronto-based virtuoso ‘Fil Jackson’.
as a dedication to the cathartic ‘footwork’-genre, this record here gained our hearts by its succinct way of sounding & of course, that every tune has its own identity. so, by pickin’ the first tune of this release here, ‘Lee Make U Move Around’, we wanted to present you an appetizer to fully listen to this outstanding publication.
besides that, this piece here is the impeccable example of what Fil tries to convey: a contagious rhythm that will stick on your body for a while. don’t forget to get your copies & say ‘hi’ to the lads of ‘Top Billin’.

2. DTM Funk & Nangdo – Thinkin Bout 16

Thinkin Bout 16’ is the next piece we’re goin’ to talk about. bein’ created as part as a collaboration between berlin-based producer ‘Nangdo’ & antwerp-based ‘DTM Funk’, what you’re goin’ to hear is profound footwork-tune that should be played everywhere. not only that the minimalistic-yet-catchy synth composition, but also the perpetual usage of the vox acapella in combination, literally force you to move your body.
as we usually do not share footwork-tunes so much, we’d like to make today an exception, due to this trenchant creation.
Thinkin Bout 16’ is goin’ to be released as a part of the upcoming ‘Nangdo Trackpack Vol. 1’-record, so why don’t you listen to this piece here for a while, to make the wait less painful? be sure to go on their sites as well, because there are some gems that needed to be listened by you & you.

3. Habibiboi – Hold On

have you ever heard of ‘Habibiboi’? if you have, then congratulations. if you haven’t, then congratulations, you’re not alone.
by perusin’ the internet for astounding oeuvres, we (fortunately) stumbled over this guy here: los angeles-based producer & full time passionist: ‘Habibiboi’. what we have found on his site were trenchant creations, with seducin’ bass lines & mesmerizin’ melodies.
one of them has been our feature: ‘Hold On’. bein’ part of his latest release, the ‘Habibiboi Baile Bootlegs’-extended play, what you’re goin’ to hear is a baile-funk-club-music hybrid that definitely needs to be on your iPod.
by payin’ a small amount of money, you can purchase this one here besides five other rivetin’ pieces over ‘Habibiboi’s bandcamp-site.

4. Chelsea Grimm – BussHead

next release is a real stunner. created by vancouver-based artists ‘Chelsea Grimm’ & released over the canadian label ‘Owake Records’, what you’re goin’ to hear a solipsistic piece with a catchy rhythm that sure will stick in your eardrums for a while.
but why? by pressin’ play, you’ll submerge in the Grimm-forest, with mellifluous synth compositions & an unique bass line that should be sufficient to convince to get yourself a copy. besides that, it will level up your curiosity about the other energetic oeuvres that can be heard on Branton’s soundcloud account.
as we love to use our site as a platform for upcoming musicians, we’d like to invite you & you to share some time of your leisure & listen to this talented bloke. as this is just one creation that shows you the true potential behind this lad, we’re really lookin’ forward for the future releases.

5. Gohda – Must B Luv (VIP)

last tune of the day is this sublime piece from philadelphia. created by the producer ‘Gohda’, what you’re goin’ to hear is a reinterpretation of his own original, named ‘Must B Luv’.
as we’d like to say that we love to hear remixes from the creators themselves, this one here should be on that specific list. not only that ‘Gohda’ created a succulent refix, that cannot be ‘genre-fied’ or better said, we dont’t want to categorize this piece here, due its elements originate from grime, club music & footwork, we’d like to invite you to check the other releases, such as the original of this VIP here instead.
not only that we have discovered a gargantuan talent here, but also every of his other releases are tenaciously-good.
so, do us, or better said, do yourself a favor & click on the provided link. don’t forget to press ‘follow’, because there is more to come in the near future.
