10/05 – 10/12 (#FF043)

#ff043: #contagiouscoffeerun

a new week has begun, and it is about time to lose some words about artists, with a bright future. we’re at the middle of the month of october, and already busy as hell. so it’s quite an amazing feeling to concentrate on things we like the most: the music (hehe). as usual, we made an itinerary through the jungle of unreleased tracks, ideas & concepts from people all over the world. we’d like to say thanks to those guys, who provided us such a bright panoply of high quality output, that we had a tough afternoon to put in the ‘right ones’ in the upcoming list. all these tasks were impossible, if there wouldn’t be coffee. we have to confess: we’re coffee-loons. we have to make another confession: it’s the only addiction in our lives, besides maybe let’s say music production for me & shopping for her. so, let’s start with the list: number forty-three…

1.Swimming Tv – Crooks

‘crooks’ is the song number one, which we did put on #ff043. its creator is the dortmund-based producer named ‘swimming tv’. being released on the french netlabel ‘cosmonostro’, the song is available for free (get your copies, folks). what you’re going to expect is a prelude, a song for specific moments in your life. ‘crooks’ has the special ingredient, which you might need to distinguish from the pile of platitudes. well what kind of special ingredient we’re talking about? well it’s up to you. what we can say is, that the mellifluous melo-composition can be the special thing, or the quite uncanny-sounding drum-setting (which is in fact, really good), or the whole concept of the creation. it’s not about perfection, it is about the recognition factor. the issues that an uprising musician has to deal with, is a.) the basic knowledge about song structuring, melody writing or finishing up the concepts into a song & b.) find your way of sounding. while a.) might be a little bit easier (it differs from artist to artist, so don’t blame us), b.) is the tough cookie to eat. ‘swimming tv’ has shown us a.) & b.), because a.) is discernible & b.) is something you can hear already in the first minute. yet, as we all tend to evolve ourselves from day to day, we’re not going to say that our german friend is at the end of his path, he is going his way of music production & we’re pretty happy to see where its end going to be.

2.Drones – If You Have To

‘if you have to’ is a song, that has been released some months ago as a freebie on the fountain of creativity, called soundcloud. the artist behind this creation is named ‘drones’, an us-based producer with the ideal of creating atmospheric & lush music. and yes, ‘if you have to’ is a perfect example of what we meant in the last sentence: a melodic intro, filled with an impeccable setting of fx’s, followed by a trenchant bassline, which sticks in your eardrums. you’re going to listen to this instrumental, at least more than two times, due its tantalizing synth-composition, which triggers something in your head, it could be either a memory, a feeling, or the creation of a special moment. and in the meanwhile you’re overviewing that specific sentiment of your inner-self, the track might be already over, which automatically ‘forces’ you to press the play-button again. and when your special period is finally overviewed a couple of times, you can feel free to check more ‘trigger-songs’ from this musician on his soundcloud-page. be sure to give him a like, followed by a repost & even maybe a follow.

3.Fort Road – Fluke (Subsets Remix)

we like to say hi to ‘subsets’ again, our british friend from former chapters of this series. this time, we did feature one recent release, a remix of ‘fluke’, which is a track of the northern ireland artist ‘fort road’. the fact that we also tend to feature some people more than one time is not because we’re too lazy to find new artists for the site, it’s because we like to follow also the way of evolvement of each musician that has crossed our way for once. in this case, we like to say that we’re pretty stoked from release to release by the young producer. whether it is about his lush way of sounding or the flawless idea of arrangements, ‘subsets’ is one of those ones to watch. his reinterpretation of the ‘fort road’-song delivers some arguments to talk about: while the original is more like a fuse between ‘electronic music’ & ‘ambient’, the reinterpretation is more like a mixture between ‘ambient’ & ‘bass’. the producer used the stems to put his ‘subsets’-stamp on the elements of the original, e.g. the re-calibration of the intro. being available as a freebie, we’d like to invite you to fetch a copy of the song & afterwards go on his soundcloud-site to check the other releases.

4.Gohlki – Left Alone

‘left alone’ is the next song, ‘gohlki’ the next artist we’d like to talk about. ‘gohlki’ aka david gohlke, is an ambient, bass & electronic musician, whose origins are in karlsruhe, germany. being featured on the site of ’17tumba’, one of the most famous music channels on youtube, besides mrsuicidesheep & ukf, ‘left alone’ had an impressive response all over the web. and yes, we are also part of the supporters of young david. whether it is about the creation of a sooth atmospheric piece of production or the melo-composition, ‘left alone’ is a song that has deserved to be mentioned here. dear people, get your copy immediately be sure to give this bud a follow, like his song & do us a favor check out his soundcloud site, there might be some secret gems for you.

5.Mik Elstein – Hypnotic Lotus

last song for today & we like to say hi to a new member on our site, the bahamas-based (says soundcloud) producer ‘mik elstein’ & his latest creation ‘hypnotic lotus’. ‘hypotic’ is infact the right term for the song, due its mesmerizing piano intro, the trenchant transition to the bridge, filled with a pile of synths, followed by a breakdown to the clubmusic- orientated bassline, which let your body move immediately & automatically. ‘hypnotic lotus’ is not really a typical club music song, due its different structure. while club music tend to be more minimalistic, we can recognize here an experiment: by fusing a panoply of different synths with elements of ambient music & of course the club-esque bassline, ‘hypnotic lotus’ can be called a hybrid piece of music production. being available as a freebie, you can feel free to fetch a copy of this bedazzling piece of art, while listening to the other releases on his acc.
