08/17 – 08/24 (#FF039)

chapter 39 – cloud rider

it’s the 24th of august and we’re back with a new chapter of the flamboyant five series. due the fact that we’re so glad the last week has passed finally (well, part of us), we’re looking forward for the new week. the new week, some new challenges – this should be the title (if we would entitle our routine for the upcoming seven days). while part of the team (the mister of team ‘smr’) is preparing for the initiation of a collective with a party, where he is going to perform live (well call it live, even though it’s just some using some knobs on a midi-controller hehehehe, sorry for the sideswipe) with the dudes of his collective, i by myself (the miss) am wondering how to end up this article without writing down some awkward things about ‘artist a’ or ‘collective b’. so anyway, let’s skip this (already getting somehow) uncanny intro, and start to talk about the things, we, ehrm i did find in the whole week.

1.Woolookologie – Prelude

why not starting the monday with a classic tune? in this case: a ‘prelude’ by ‘woolookologie’, a german composer-producer, coming straight from a small city called heidelberg. if you check the productions by this young artist (he is only fourteen, which you can’t imagine while listening to some tracks), you’ll start to think about what you were doing when you were at the same age, probably still playing with your dolls or doing some ‘bad things’ all day long. besides havin’ a really hard name to write (i have to admit, i have to type in the name more like 3 times), the music lets you forget about banalities, the stress, the struggles in your life. why? it’s because ‘woolookologie’ tries to write down some emotions on his piano, to let you feel them while pressing play on his soundcloud page. as we like to say always, it’s quite frustrating to see that many artists do not get the deserved attention for their work, due to trivial reasons, like they produce ‘the wrong genre’ and so on. we’re glad that we have found luis (that’s his real name) & his productions. we’re looking forward to hear more of his creations of ‘fusing the electronic with the classic’.

2. Madijuwon & J.Roosevelt – PASTEL

next one is ‘pastel’ by the french ‘madijuwon’ & the american ‘j.roosevelt’. while you might recognize the name ‘madijuwon’ (due the reason that we have already featured him on some episodes of the flamboyant five series), we’d like to say ‘hi’ to jena & her alias ‘j.roosevelt’ to the smr family. these two young producers have cooked together a succulent burger with french cheese, in form of a hip hop track, which has been released recently as a freebie on the ‘chillhop’ soundcloud channel. if you check out both artists, you’ll get a sense of how a collab might sound like when they work together – & yes, you’re not going to be dissappointed. while many collaborations between great musicians sound like expired milk in your fridge, ‘pastel’ gives you the opposite feeling. a refreshing hip hop track, with elements from ambient to trip hop, covered up by a sticky melody is what we like to call it. so meanwhile you’re getting hungry, be sure to listen to that track before you order some pizza.

3. Whithe x Subsets – I Loved U (feat. Oneira)

‘i loved u’ is the next thing, which needs to be mentioned on this episode. created by slovakian producer ‘whithe’ & ‘subsets’, whose origins are unfortunately unknown, ‘i loved u’ is a song to remember. but why? not only because of the mellifluous voice of french singer-songwriter ‘oneira’ that has been added to the track, but also because of this peculiar atmosphere that is going to engulf you while listening to that song. an eery atmos, because it feels too good to be true. a soothy creation, whose characteristics could be connected with the ‘ambient’ genre & yet you’ll get the feel that the term should not be sufficient, so in this case (even though we dislike the term) we’re going to call it a hybrid of electronic music production. the song is available on the ‘insight vol. 3’ compilation by the uk-based electronic music label ‘insight music’ for a small fee of six british pounds. so while i was listening to that specific track, i somehow forgot about the time so that i needed to hurry up to finish up this article. a reason for this might be the aforementioned & mesmerizing voice of ‘oneira’.

4. ASHA – Chapters

track number four is ‘chapters’ by london-based ‘asha’. the artist recently gave her debut on soundcloud with an original named ‘we can do this’. so while getting an impression of this musician, we can admit that people going to like her music. a reason might be her voice, another the music, another could be the whole concept, the idea behind ‘asha’. by fusing r&b with hiphop & pop music, you can call her the perfect example of how music should sound like nowadays: some smooth vibes, a significant voice and we can create some precious pieces of art. the last sentence impeccably fits to the description of ‘chapters’. so, be sure, dear ladies & gentlemen to give ‘ASHA’ a like, followed up by a follow on twitter & a post on her facebook page. we’re stocked about her evolvement as an artist & pretty sure that she is going to make us smile more in the future.

5. CVRL – Wondrous Places (feat. JUVIA)

we have another ‘cvrl’ production on the flamboyant five series. this time, the swedish musicmaker did hit us up with a new release, better let’s say a new extended play called ‘melatodin’. while we were still impressed by his last track we talked about (‘svint’ with ‘mirzvh’), our swedish friend did serve another piece of pulchritude. ‘wondrous places’ is a song that impresses us with its flawless mixdown, the tremendous kickdrum-setting, the melody, the rhythm, we can go on with the counting. so, while having a collaboration with ‘mirzvh’ the last time, cvrl did team up with the stockholm-based ‘juvia’ to write track number six. we always welcome people who like to team up & create together something unique & beautiful, which is still somehow an exception if you take a look on the history of collaboration. be sure to check the ‘melatodin’ ep, the artists & their creations.
